The ObliqueRAT Remote Access Trojan (RAT), discovered in early 2020, has been traced back to attacks against organizations in South Asia. (Hackers Now Hiding ObliqueRAT Payload in Images to Evade Detection)

ObliqueRAT – A New RAT Malware Distributed Through Weaponized Office Documents Targeting Government Organizations

A Remote Access (Administration) Trojan or a RAT is a type of malware that allows cybercriminals to remotely access and control infected machines.

Typically, RATs are used to distribute other malware, spy on victims and collect sensitive information, and (or) perform DDoS attacks.

ObliqueRAT is a RAT that has already been updated several times (there are at least five variants of the ObliqueRAT). It is known that the campaign distributing ObliqueRAT started in April 2020. It targets organizations in South Asia, and is still in progress.
